Holy Roar
Paul Tripp’s New Morning Mercies has been a constant fixture in Amy’s morning routine for several years. It has accompanied her on the rollercoaster of life, meeting her in the middle of great joy and deep grief. One constant in that book is the phrase “already and not yet” and this was the jumping off point for her first song, "Holy Roar." It caused her to spend some time thinking about the tension in this space we hold between the first and second coming of Christ. There have been several times in Amy’s life when the brokenness of this world has caused her to question God’s nature and purpose. However, the Lord never stopped coming after her, persistently pursuing the seeds of song he planted in her all those years ago. "Holy Roar" is a battle cry, an anthem that reminds us that we can be certain of the promise and we can rest in the sureness of our Father’s love. This is not the end, it is merely a temporary separation. The hope of heaven is real and we have much to sing about.
