about Amy Hillis
Traveling often with her evangelist grandparents as a child, Amy had a front row seat to the power of music in worship. Portable PA systems, colorful foam mic covers and spirited piano accompaniment framed her first solos in church. As a teen, she jumped at every opportunity to sing. From church groups to school groups to just hanging out and making music with friends, it was clear her future would revolve around music. After spending many years studying classical music, Amy recognized the value of that training but found it did not reflect her heart’s cry. Once again the church provided the opportunity for worship through music and Amy began to grow into the sound that defines her unique style. She was grateful for the chance to be used as special music for retreats and various events, as well as leading corporate worship. However, it wasn’t until 2021 that she discovered she is as passionate about telling her story as she is about singing. That awakening brought us her first album, Let the Holy Roar, as well as new music from her most recent project, A Better Word. Whether it is the stories behind the songs, her personal testimony, a topical Bible study or an exegetical dive into God’s Word, Amy believes wholeheartedly we must strive for transparent community with other believers. In this way we encourage each other, learn from each other, and have the great privilege of witnessing the work of grace in each other’s lives.

Married in 1998, Amy and her husband, Richard make their home in Oklahoma, where they were both born and raised. As a self-described reluctant homeschooler, Amy is thrilled to have witnessed the gift of homeschooling through a local Classical Conversations community. While her son is a 2025 graduate, her daughter continues her high school studies. Although homeschooling and pursuing her Master's is demanding, Amy is grateful to a patient, loving God, who continues to teach her the rhythm of Sabbath living even in the busiest of seasons.
